Home Studio Portraiture - General Information

The home studio session is for parents that don’t want the inconvenience of having to bring children in a car through traffic and try to arrive in an unfamiliar studio with a happy face.  I offer a portrait session in the comfort of your own home, with familiar and comfortable surroundings for the children, or at another location that you may prefer which is ideal for family occasions; birthdays, christenings, communions, confirmations, engagements, anniversaries.

From newborn babies to grandparents, I will provide photographs of you and your loved ones in a relaxed environment. A Home Portrait Session really is a fresh approach in capturing the spirit of your family life. There are two distinct styles of Home Portraiture that you can avail of:

Lifestyle Portraiture:

Here we use your home, garden or another location as an environment to photograph your family and friends. This style takes a documentary approach to photographing your lives, which can be very natural.

Home studio Portraiture:

Using a portable studio, I will take professional photographs of your family and friends in the comfort of your own home against a studio backdrop (white or black).  

Generally I will spend an hour to ninety minutes in your home/location for a fee of €135. I will use this time to photograph a variety of different setups, i.e. babies/children photographed individually, with siblings, as a group, with parents, grandparents etc. This will include one framed 7x5 or 6x4 prints of your choice.

I will then post the completed images on my website (password protected) for your viewing.  You can choose images from the selection for purchase, or if you wish, we can meet again to offer advice on sizing, frame types etc. Images can be printed in Black & White or Colour.  I can offer purchase of unframed prints, framed prints and photo books. 

What to wear:

There are no rules about what you should wear for your portrait, but there are a few tips:

• Wear what you like and feel comfortable in!
• Choose either formal or casual clothing for the family members - e.g. try not to have one person in formal wear (for e.g. business suit) while all others are wearing casual style clothes.
• Try to avoid high fashion - classic style clothing will not date as quickly.
• If you would like a colour portrait try to think will the colours tone or clash?  Strong colours can be very striking, whilst pastel colours work well on babies and small children.
• For Black & White portraits, choose simple clothing and avoid strong patterns and big logos, especially corporate branding!
• If unsure, no harm in having a second change of clothing ready

Framed Prints

Depending on the size and type of frames, mounts etc, you would expect to pay between 50%-70% on top of prices given for Unframed Prints above.  We can discuss options before/after the photo session.  You may have some frames at home that you would like to use, so please discuss so we can make prints to suit the size of your frames.

 

Photo Books 

(prices based on purchase of one of above packages).

Books will be printed with premium paper (in lustre or matt finish) and will have an image wrapped hard cover.  I will have samples of books to view at your portrait session, to help you choose.
